For Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur MDes Admission 2026, the first round of shortlisting was conducted based on portfolio submissions. Applicants were required to follow the portfolio guidelines shared by the institute, which included preparing a properly structured portfolio within the prescribed 11-page format. Separate portfolios were expected for specializations such as XR Design and Smart Product Design, although candidates could also use a common portfolio if relevant.

Based on the evaluation of these portfolios, shortlisted candidates were invited for the next stage of the selection process, which included a studio test followed by an in-person interview at the School of Design, IIT Jodhpur, scheduled for 24–25–26 May 2026.

Students were also asked to carry a printed hard copy of their portfolio for the interview and studio test. Along with the portfolio, candidates were required to carry:

  • Original ID proof

  • Copy of the application form

  • Copy of the email

  • Hard copy printout of the portfolio

The studio test was conducted in multiple sessions depending on the specialization, and candidates applying for both programs might have needed to appear for both relevant studio tests while attending only one interview.
