IIT Gandhinagar M.Des - Previous Year Question Paper 2026-27

For the 2026–2027 academic year, IIT Gandhinagar launched its first M.Des program. As part of the registration form, applicants were asked to respond to a set of design and technology–focused questions, along with submitting their portfolio.
This stage can be considered as the first Design Test (DT) round. Additionally, only candidates who qualified the CEED exam were eligible to apply for the program.
After the registration form submission, shortlisted candidates were invited for a Studio Test. Once candidates qualified the Studio Test, they were informed about the Interview date, followed by the Interview round as the final stage of the selection process.
In summary, the admission process for IIT Gandhinagar M.Des (2026–2027) included:

2. Everyday Technology Observation
Select one object from your everyday life that you consider a technology.
This may include physical objects, digital interfaces, or technology-enabled systems that people interact with in everyday life.

(a) Photographs
Two photographs of the object taken by you, showing it in its everyday context of use.

(b) Short Critique
Discuss the following:
Function / Usage – How does it work? How do people use it?
Visual / Form / Interaction – What do you observe about its form, interface, or user interaction?
Ethical or Societal Implications – Does it influence behaviour, accessibility, privacy, environment, or social practices?
(Maximum 250 words)
3. Portfolio Submission
